What You Don't Know About Bookstore Shelves

Okay, I've been debating on whether or not to write this post but I just gotta. Also, please know the following is about all books, not just mine because all authors work really hard on their books (I'm talking sprouting gray hair, missing important family events and maybe even a few tears) and every book deserves a chance in the world.

Do you guys know that shelf space in a bookstore is expensive and well sort after real estate? What this means is just because a book is on the shelf at this moment doesn't mean that it will always be. If that book doesn't sell pretty quickly, it gets the boot never to return again. Yup, the store will send back any and all books not sold in order to make room for the next book. This doesn't look good at all to the publisher. In fact, the publisher might not ever want another thing that particular author writes.

This is not to blame the bookstore in any way. This is a business and businesses must make money in order to keep their doors open. Plus, I love bookstores and would live in one if I could. Heehee. That goes for libraries too.

So if you're thinking you'd like to read a certain book, please go and get it, otherwise it will disappear like it never even existed.
